| Stokesia laevis 'Color Wheel' Stokes Aster |
Starting in mid-May, Stokesia 'Color Wheel' sends up branched bloom stalks which open to almost pure white. As the days progress, the same bloom deepends to lavender, eventually deepening to purple. During the lavender and purple stages, new white blooms open on the same bloom stalk. The overall effect is as many as five different colors on the same plant. The blooms also have a white center. All together a spectacular new look in Stokesias! Foliate is strap-like to 10" white. The overall height of the plant in bloom is 24". P.P.A.F.

This is a native, dwarf late blooming Stokes Aster. The cultivar name refers not to the color, but to the plantswoman who found this plant, Peachie Saxon of Mississippi. It will burst into bloom in mid-July with flowers that are blue, typical of most Stokesia. Growing just 812" tall, this tidy compact, upright form is great along the front of the border. It looks wonderful with Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns.'

Flowers are an iridescent raspberry with a light flush of deeper raspberry near the center. The prominent stamens are raspberry and pink. This is one of the most floriferous and toughest of the verbascums, and it flowers from mid-spring through fall! Continues to flower even if not deadheaded, although removing spent flowers will improve the appearance and continuation of bloom. A sure winner!
