Heliopsis helianthoides 'Prairie Sunset' – Sunflower Heliopsis
A cultivar of a native plant with improved habit and longer flowering time. It bears multiple gold daisy flowers with red markings toward the center of the petals. The flowers bloom from late June to September above dark purplish green foliage with burgundy stems. It grows 4-5’ tall and has a more compact and bushy habit than the native species. Introduced by the nationally famous prairie restorationist and Wisconsin Wild Man, Neil Diboll. PPAF, propogation is prohibited.

Heliopsis helianthoides 'Prairie Sunset'
Heuchera 'Vesuvius' – Coral Bells
From Terra Nova Nurseries, this was the #1 winner of their year 2000 trials. One of the few purple leaf cultivars that also has colorful flowers. Profuse and re-blooming spires of bright cherry-red flowers bloom over dark purple foliage in late spring to early summer. Hybridized by the well-known raconteur and bon vivant, Dan Heims, who lives and works near Portland, OR. PPAF-PRV, propogation is prohibited.

Heuchera 'Vesuvius'
Heucherella 'Chocolate Lace' – Foamy Bells
A cross between our native Tiarella and Heuchera, all forms are sterile and are thus profusely flowering and repeat bloomers. ‘Chocolate Lace’ has filigreed cocoa leaves, with strawberry-pink flowers in late spring. Yet another of Dan Heim’s spectacular cultivars! Try growing it to emulate a bubbling stream along a shallow swale in your woodland garden. PPAF-PVR, propogation is prohibited.

Hosta 'Thunderbolt' – Plantain Lily
From Rick Crowder of Hawksridge Farms comes this sport of the popular Hosta sieboldiana ‘Elegans’. It is different from its parent in that it has leaves with golden centers and wide blue-green margins. As the foliage matures during the season, the center fades to a creamy white. The leaves are thick with heavy corrugation. White flowers bloom in July about 6” above the foliage, making the plant 24-30” tall with a similar spread. Magnificent as a focal point! PPAF, propogation is prohibited.

Iberis gibraltarica 'Betty Swainson' – Candytuft
Seldom seen in American gardens, it has 1” long evergreen leaves that are toothed and produce basal rosettes. Large white flowers appear in May and bloom as long as the temperature remains moderate. Grows 10” tall and, like all Iberis, should be cut back after flowering to encourage compact new growth. Unlike other Iberis, ‘Betty Swainson’ has large, ovate-spatulate leaves (rather than narrow, linear ones) and flowers five times the size of sempervirens type Iberis.

Ligularia 'Britt Marie Crawford' – Ligularia
A stunning introduction with large, glossy, chocolate-maroon leaves that have a dark purple underside. Large orange-yellow flowers bloom from August to September. Grows 3-4’ tall and as with all Ligularias, it needs a lot of moisture and cool soils to look its best. The foliage wilts in hot sun, thus it’s other common name, “ragwort”. Sensational around ponds, along stream banks or wherever the roots can stay constantly moist and afternoon shade can be provided. PPAF, propogation is prohibited.

Monarda 'On Parade' – Bee Balm
This new hybrid makes a striking presentation when in bloom as the velvety maroon flowers are displayed in almost symmetrical rows on the plant. Growing 30” tall, the flowers will bloom in July and may re-bloom if the plant is cut back. It has excellent mildew resistance. Few other plants offer such intense color throughout the summer. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds by the score!
