We were very excited when Heuchera ‘Amber Waves’ was introduced, but we think that ‘Marmalade’ is even better as its shiny, undulating evergreen foliage, ranging in color from amber to deep sienna, grows much better for us. Showy in all seasons, this vigorous plant has heavy substance standing up to all the extremes in weather that our climate can dish out. It produces numerous, narrow spires of red-brown flowers in late spring. Propagation is prohibited.
Sun Exposure: Full to Partial Sun
Cold Hardiness: Zones 3-9
Spacing: 12-15" apart
Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate
Water and Soil Needs: Average, well drained garden soil

Heuchera villosa ‘Caramel’ PPAF Coral Bells |
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
Heuchera villosa is outstanding, as the largest in the genus and last to flower. Native to the southeast United States, it is heat tolerant and more reliable in hot, wet summers. Yet, it’s perfectly hardy here. But the foliage of this new cultivar is what is really exciting. The light caramel colored leaves are like no other we’ve seen and the color blends with just about every kind of plant! At summers end, dainty pinkish white flowers appear on long stems above the foliage. Larger than most Heuchera, it will reach up to 24-30” tall. Propagation is prohibited.
Sun Exposure: Full to Partial Sun
Cold Hardiness: Zones 5-9
Spacing: 18" apart
Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate
Water Soil Needs: Average, well drained garden soil

Discovered by Marc Laviana of Sunny Border Nurseries, this is a sport of Hosta sieb. ‘Frances Williams’ that has very large, round, blue-green leaves with a much wider, white margin on the edges. Like its parent, it forms a large beautiful mound of foliage 32-36” tall and 4-5’ wide. Unlike its parent, ‘Time Tunnel’ has white edges that will not sun-scorch. The flowers are white and bloom in late summer. Propagation is prohibited.
Sun Exposure: Full to Partial Shade
Cold Hardiness: Zone 49
Spacing: 18" apart
Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate
Water Needs: Average, well drained garden soil

Miscanthus, a grass native to Asia, is grown for its low maintenance and architectural interest in fall and winter. M. sin. ‘Zebrinus’ was one of the first available and had horizontal yellow to gold leaf stripes, but was big and floppy. M. sin. ‘Strictus’ has been the preferred choice as it’s more upright and compact, with more noticeable stripes. Now M. sin. ‘Gold Bar’ goes even further with large, golden, horizontal stripes and a height of just 30-36” at maturity! Like all Miscanthus full sun is best but ‘Gold Bar’ is tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions. A Joy Creek Nursery introduction. Propagation is prohibited
Sun Exposure: Full Sun
Cold Hardiness: Zones 59
Spacing: 1518" apart
Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate
Water Needs: Average, well drained garden soil
