This diminutive "sister" is dwarfed in height by its much taller and bolder siblings but not in flower size. The sky blue blooms topping this 14" plant are surprisingly large and numerous. Try creating a frontal drift of this small charmer to outline and accentuate your taller plantings of peonies, poppies, taller Irises, etc. The upright, linear quality of this new cultivar will contrast wonderfully with the roundness of peony or poppy flowers.
Sun Exposure: Full Sun
Cold Hardiness: Zones 4-9
Spacing: 18"
Growth Rate: Moderate to Fast
Water Needs: Prefers moist, well drained soil |

L. Super is a cross between English and French Lavender from which we gain the superior hardiness of the former and the exquisite fragrance of the latter. The pale, silver-gray foliage is more alluring than the greenish tinge of its English paternity; the longer and wider leaves are more striking than the needle-like equivalent of its French maternity. A mature plant will form a 20-24" elliptical ball above which 10-12" spikes of pastel lavender flowers appear throughout the late spring and summer. Great for cutting and drying!

Cold Hardiness: Zone 5-9
Spacing: 12-18"
Growth Rate: Moderate
Water Needs: Prefers well drained, alkaline soils. Lime yearly. |

Do you remember the words to the old song, "Lavender blue, dilly dilly, lavender green"? Thus the unusual name. This English and French lavender cross has improved hardiness, vigor and fragrance. The plant itself forms a compact ball of only about 12" but its flower spikes tower well above that, attracting many kinds of butterflies and honey bees. Its dense and symmetrical foliage will serve you well for a small hedge, perhaps around your herb garden. The flower spikes are perfect for bouquets, for drying or for potpourri.

This is the palest, most ghostly gray lavender we have yet seen! Is there any other kind of plant so notably blanched? We find it to be an excellent foil against any green foliated plant but especially between overly bright or clashing flower colors. Great for cooling down the hot shades of summer! Try growing this lavender in a bed of very well-drained, sandy or gravelly soil, perhaps mulched with pea-stone. We would also suggests adding a liberal dose of pelletized lime every spring. Lavandin does not like our sour, northeast soil. Otherwise, it's a cool plant.

This American native has just completed finishing school in England and has now returned home in an evident effort to lord it over her less fortunate American cousins. Adorned in dark, ruby-red flowers of velvety texture, this three foot prima donna reeks of nobility. Has she married into royalty? We think you'd like to see her mirrored in your pond or brook. Anywhere you put her in your garden, we promise that all eyes will be upon her so don't be jealous now!
